For more than 50 years, Community Thread’s ride services program has relied on volunteers. In fact, the program is not possible without volunteers! With an increase in our older adult population and the growth in the need for local transportation solutions, your support couldn’t be more valuable than it is today. Ride Schedulers provide an essential service to neighbors in central and northern Washington County. Are you ready to help in a simple, flexible way?
- Being a ride scheduler is truly a flexible option- you pick your 2-3 hour “shifts”, and you can volunteer weekly or just twice per month.
- Schedulers volunteer from a dedicated office space but in a fun environment alongside Community Thread staff and key volunteers at our site in Stillwater.
- The role includes basic use of Outlook, a computer-based phone line, and an online scheduling tool. We have guides to help you learn what you need to know!
- A typical volunteer shift includes listening to and returning messages from riders, entering ride requests, emailing potential volunteers, and matching and communicating details when a driver claims a ride!
- This role requires: enthusiasm for engaging your neighbors over the phone, attention-to-detail for managing ride requests, and a willingness to learn new skills or take on relevant data or communications projects to support the ride services program.
As a Ride Scheduler, you will fulfill a large need in the community and peace-of-mind for your neighbors- all with a flexible commitment.
