Building Community Event: Personal Safety in Today's World

All community members are invited to attend free presentations about personal safety by speakers from Jacob Wetterling Resource Center. Alison Feigh will present: Empower Me! (For grades 2-6) Children will learn about personal safety in this interactive session. Topics covered are: the buddy system, checking first, secrets vs. surprises, 5 trusted adults, listening to your “uh-oh” feeling, and body ownership. Jane Straub will present: Teachable Safety Skills: Replacing Myths with Facts (For parents, teachers, youth leaders, and communities). This presentation provides current information about various safety concerns children and teens are facing today, both in-person and online, and how to educate youth on those concerns in a positive way. A certification of attendance will be available upon request. Daycare for children under school age will be provided.
