Allina Hospice is seeking volunteers that are certified as Hairstylists, Pet Therapists and Energy Work/Massage Therapists to provide support to our hospice patients.

Your Gifts matters! Do you hold a certification for any of the above. Would you like to share these skills in a meaningful way during an important time. A cut can give a sense of self worth, a massage or energy work., relaxation. Pet therapy can bring joy and the unexpected to a patients day.

Your own Volunteer vision matters! In the training process. We find out what your interests are. We ask how and where you want to engage. This may mean offering respite, or companionship visits. What do you love to do? Do you play cards, are you a sports fan? Would you like to capture stories or help someone send out letters or other projects. We then assign you 1-1 with a patient in our Hospice program.

Your time Matters! Hours are flexible and your availability is respected. The steps to Volunteer include at home Online training followed by an in-person group wrap-up session at a later date in St. Paul.

Allina Hospice is seeking Veterans for Vet to Vet interactions requested by our Veterans who are on our Hospice service.

Your Service to our Country Matters! You have served and your life experiences can hold another Veteran at this time. You can listen with empathy. You have followed a similar path but experiences are so very unique. You can meet a Veteran exactly where they are at and be a consistent piece of the puzzle. Meeting needs such as respite, companionship, helping with small projects, or other needs in the environment.

Currently our Volunteers our supporting 1-1 in homes and facilities without Covid visiting restrictions. They are also sending cards or making phone calls if requested and sitting bedside during our 11th hour program. Now is a great time to join our team. We will make sure to get you personal protective equipment and you will be asked to be vaccinated for Covid and have yearly flu shots to support 1-1. We require background checks which will include fingerprinting, references and labwork.

Your gifts Matter!  The opportunities are diverse as our volunteer pool. You have a heart for a soft conversation, your friends may come to you for a listening ear, with strong traits of compassion and care you often can see needs before they come to light. You can see yourself stepping into a volunteer role that holds purpose.

NOTE: Currently our volunteers are making phone calls, sending cards and supporting with 1-1 visits in homes and some facilities that do not have visiting restrictions. We are now implementing our 11th hour bedside vigils as well. Take the next steps, apply online and we will connect with you via phone.
