Volunteer: Community Thread Volunteer DriverFor more than 50 years, Community Thread’s ride services program has relied on volunteers. In fact, the program is not possible without volunteers! With an increase in our older adult population and the growth in the need for local transportation solutions, your support couldn’t be more valuable than it is today. Volunteer Drivers provide an essential service to neighbors in central and northern Washington County. Are you ready to help in a simple, flexible way? Being a volunteer driver is truly a flexible option- tell us the days you’re generally available and communities to which you’re willing go, and when requests come in matching your interest, we reach out to you!Drivers receive requests by email or can (soon) view requests online, and they confirm the rides they can do.Rides currently take place Mondays-Fridays from roughly 8am-5pm.We expect at least a 3-day notice from a rider, so we are not typically reaching out to you with a same day or next day request.If there’s an emergency, we have a guide to help you deal with special scenarios, and our office staff can be available to support you.This role requires: 8 years of driving experience, a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, proof of insurance, and ability to schedule rides using email and/or a simple online portal.As a Volunteer Driver, you will fulfill a large need in the community and provide social engagement for your neighbors- all with a flexible commitment. Position Overview: The Activity Support Volunteer plays a key role in ensuring a welcoming, organized, and safe environment at the Bayport site. This volunteer works to support daily operations, assist members and visitors, and help implement programs and activities. Essential Responsibilities: Assist with opening and closing the Bayport site as directed. Monitor and notify the appropriate staff when essential supplies need replenishing. Ensure the facility remains clean and safe, reporting or addressing equipment issues as needed. Collect and record financial donations and fees from visitors and participants. Make coffee and set out light treats for members and visitors (no serving required). Assist with clean-up after events, including wiping down tables, washing dishes, and ensuring the space is tidy. Perform front desk duties, including: Greeting and assisting visitors in a warm and friendly manner.
