Community Thread is a Stillwater-based nonprofit offering a variety of programs and services to improve the lives of neighbors in need. From volunteer opportunities and service initiatives, to fitness classes and off-site excursions, Community Thread has something for everyone!
At Community Thread, we create critical connections that shape lives and give them meaning. With two locations, we help people get to medical appointments, assist people wanting to remain independent, and enrich lives by connecting volunteers to needs in our community.

What We Do
Community Thread began in 1967 when a group of concerned citizens identified a problem: people who no longer were able to drive needed rides to medical appointments. Knowing that we live in a community where people care about each other, these caring community leaders recruited volunteers to address the need. As the founding concept of the organization, Community Thread continues to connect people with needs to volunteers willing to help. We also directly support older adults and their families needing resources and options to live independently.
